Istanbul and Ankara metropolitan municipalities offered free public transportation service after the July 15th coup attempt. The second statement by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality said that public transportation vehicles would be free until Monday and they would offer uninterrupted service for 24 hours. Şanlıurfa and Konya also offered free public transportation services for three days.

Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Chairman Devlet Bahçeli addressed Parliament which held an extraordinary session after the coup attempt had been prevented. Touching on the bombardment of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey building, Bahçeli said, “It is a terrible treachery which appalled all of us.” Noting that “All bombs that fell on Parliament exploded in national hearts,” Bahçeli continued, “Regardless of whatever party we are affiliated with, all of us are the children of the Turkish nation.”

Speaking on behalf of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) at the extraordinary meeting, HDP Group Deputy Chairman İdris Baluken said they condemned the coup attempt in the strictest way. He continued, “Such attacks have never succeeded in the past, never succeed today and will never succeed in the future. The HDP will continue to play its own mission against any attempt that is aimed at interrupting democratic politics.”

Tanks which had been used in the coup attempt by Fetullah Terror Organization (FETÖ) members were pulled to the barracks from the garden of the Ankara Police Department by military trucks. A total of five tanks were loaded on to five trucks by soldiers and police officers. People holding Turkish flags sent off trucks to the barracks amid applauses and anti-coup slogans. Then, the convoy of trucks carrying the tanks entered the General Eşref Akıncı Barracks.
