As part of the investigation launched after the Fetullah Terror Organization’s (FETÖ) coup attempt, the houses of Constitutional Court members, Alparslan Altan and Erdal Tercan, were searched and they were detained.

Security Forces carried out an operation on the Akıncı 4th Main Jet Base which had been used as the center air base by coup plotters. As a result of the operation against the FETÖ’s coup attempt, 67 people surrendered and Gendarmerie General Commander General Galip Mendi was rescued.

President Erdoğan addressed the people who gathered in Kısıklı against the coup attempt. Noting that the coup attempt by FETÖ-affiliated soldiers was prevented by people who poured out onto the squares, President Erdoğan said, “Thank God, this attempt did not end as they had expected. Indeed, we believed that there is a fate beyond the fate. We said that the strong are not the right, but the right are the strong.” President Erdoğan also called on the U.S. and requested the extradition of FETÖ leader Fethullah Gülen.

President Erdoğan answered people’s slogans about capital punishment for coup plotters, saying, “The assessment of every request is a right in democratic countries. These are addressed under the umbrella of Parliament.”

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, first went from Marmaris to Dalaman at the time of the coup attempt, then from there to Istanbul Atatürk Airport. Erdoğan, who stayed in the guesthouse of the airport until the morning, then went to his residence in Kısıklı, Istanbul. He was welcomed to his house by thousands of people, and he addressed the public there. Erdoğan, indicating that the coup would not reach its target, responded positively to the demand of the people for execution.
