Erol İnce, a Special Operations Police, was on duty at the Ankara Gölbaşı Special Operations Department on the night of July 15. İnce, who had 2 sons, was martyred during the vicious coup attempt.
Originally from Artvin, Martyr Erol İnce’s funeral prayer was held at the Eyüp Sultan Mosque after the afternoon prayer. The 11th President of Turkey Abdullah Gül, the Governor of İstanbul Vasip Şahin, and the martyr’s relatives and colleagues attended the funeral. The martyr’s sons, the 14-year-old Ahmet and 9-year-old Arda, who recited prayers alongside Abdullah Gül, stood up straight.
The 48 year old martyr’s name, whose body was buried in the Edirnekapı Martyr's Cemetery, was given to Anatolian Imam Hatip high schools in Ümraniye and his hometown, Artvin.
