İhsan Yıldız was martyred by FETÖ members when he challenged the colonel who was shooting soldiers who refused to shoot at citizens. On the night of the coup attempt, he went into the streets to defend his country against putschists after the call of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, he went to the Kurtköy Orhanlı toll booths. Eventually, he called his brother Ali Yıldız. Ali tried to prevent his brother from going out that night, he said, “This country has a police force to take care of it. You have little children, that need you,” but he could not convince his brother.
They couldn’t get a place in the hospital as it was too full
When İhsan arrived at Kurtköy he saw many putschist soldiers invading the Orhanlı toll booths. In the meantime, ranked soldiers were killing the other soldiers denying to shoot at people. He tried to stop the attack by questioning the ranked soldiers, “Why are you killing our soldiers?” However, putschist soldiers got angry and started shooting at civilians. İhsan was the target of these bullets fired by the FETÖ members. He was taken to the hospital for treatment but he was not accepted as it was full of patients. The news of his martyrdom, which took place in the ambulance, reached his family at 11 in the morning. He was buried in Edirnekapı martyrs’ Cemetery.
He visited his mother’s grave for the last time
İhsan was from Trabzon and recently went to his hometown Of on the Ramadan holiday. He visited his mother’s grave on the first day of the holiday so that he wouldn’t regret not visiting.
He had been working as a welder for 6 years in Istanbul. He was 41 years old when he reached martyrdom. Yıldız, who was known as a person who loved his country and home, was married and had 3 daughters.
The name Martyr İhsan Yıldız was given to a kindergarden in Sultanbeyli, İstanbul and a middle school in Of, Trabzon.
