Murat İnci

42 year old Murat İnci, who left 4 daughters behind, ran to the streets upon the call of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. He was shot and martyred by the helicopter which was shooting at people in Kızılay. He had served military service in the Southeast region of Turkey and many of his friends were martyred. He was always sorry that his friends were martyred but that he wasn’t. However, he finally joined his friends and obtained martyrdom on July 15th.

Murat sold furniture in Siteler. He went to a relatives wedding earlier in the night on the 15th with his 16 year old daughter Hümeyra, 12 year old Melkie, 6 year old Melisa, and 10 months old Mira Nur, and his wife Meryem. İnci heard about the events of the night when he returned home and went into the streets upon the call of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. His cousin became a veteran after being shot in Kızılay too. Around 02:00 AM, somebody else answered Murat’s phone when his mother was trying to get ahold of him. His brother Mehmet, said they searched for the body of his brother until 6 in the morning after the person who answered the phone said, “The owner of the phone was taken to the hospital by an ambulance.” They eventually found Murant İnci’s body in the morgue of the Ankara Yüksek İhtisas Hospital.

Murat was martyred in front of the General Staff headquarters after a shrapnel piece impaled him in the head. He was buried in the Karşıaya Cemetery after the funeral that was held in the Kocatepe Mosque.

The name Martyr Murat İnci was given to an Anatolian imam hatip high school in Milas, Muğla.

Traitors conducted a full-fledged attack on the General Staff Headquarters on the night that the coup attempt. The putschists attacked both with low-flying F-16s and with tanks by land. Tanks ran over police vehicles, and fired on civilians putting up resistance. The citizens managed to stop the tanks by laying canvas on the tanks in order to block their sight.

FETÖ soldiers raided the General Staff Command on the night of the coup attempt and took Chief of General Staff Gen. Hulusi Akar hostage. Tanks and helicopters then started firing into the crowd that had gathered around the quarters. Akar was rescued within the next few hours and brought to Çankaya Palace.
