On the night of July 15th, during the coup attempt plotted by FETÖ member soldiers, two separate bomb attacks were carried out at the Gölbaşı Special Operations Centre, located in Ankara.
During these attacks, Special Operations Policeman and 2nd degree Police Chief Taner Zafer Koyuncu became martyrs.
Forty-five-year-old, martyr Koyuncu’s wife Aşkın Koyuncu, could not get in contact with her husband all night. The news that Koyuncu had been martyred was delivered to his family at 10:30 in the morning.
Originally from Bilecik, Zafer Koyuncu was laid to rest at Kocatepe Mosque on July 17th. Zafer Koyuncu’s mother passed away when he was 4 years old and his grandmother took care of him.
The name Martyr Zafer Koyuncu was given to an imam hatip middle school in his hometown of Bilecik.
