History and the region are calling us: Influence agents are finished, it is time for intellectual mobilization

History and the region are calling us. Our past, our grand plans, our great claims, our theories on the region and the world are calling us.

If we are to establish a strong future, if we are going to protect Turkey from new tutelage attempts and close that subject forever, if we are going to overcome the resistance networking on the inside against our country’s great march and turn toward the world, if we are going to start a new rising period, if we are going to be one of the main actors shaping the global power domain of the future, we are obliged to answer the call of history, the call of the region. We have to gather strength from ourselves, from our past, from the political pool that makes us who we are.

We have to return to our history-making role and carry our mind beyond the borders of Anatolia. We have to overcome the internal resistance and the attempts to besiege our country with this strength and experience.

Project to ‘stop Turkey’: Our fights grow as we grow

Right at this time, we have to be aware that the individuals and circles, movements and organizations taking a stance against our great march – even if with “innocent reasons” - is actually a “foreign intervention.” We have to know that all attempts that are the continuation of the July 15 attack are adjusted to darken our future, adjusted to stop our country, that there is a global project to “stop Turkey,” that the efforts made today to confine us into tight areas are extensions of this project.

We have to understand that as Turkey grows, so do its claims, and we have to accept that there may be battles. At such a time, we have to be on alert against everyone, every circle, every country that weaken our resistance, blur our mind, demotivate us, tarnish Turkey with a belittling tone, who bring up the weaknesses of the past today and spread hopelessness while Turkey is facing unavoidable great fights.

Revenge of the century and new rise: This time we are going to exist with our claims

Because we are facing the gravest showdown in our political history. If we do not face this showdown now, if we choose to make do with what we have or to seek refuge under the winds of a power, we are going to lose this transformation and waste the opportunity we got a century later. They are going to push us outside of history and in the world of the future, we are going to have no other role than being a “front,” a “garrison.” We are going to be confined to the 20th century all over again, let it be known.

World War I was one of our most traumatic destructions; it was a turn in history. We lost. The entire region spanning the Atlantic coasts to the Pacific coasts lost. This defeat continued for a century. Back then, we were a country that weakened, regressed and lost its resistance.

In the turn of history that has appeared once more before us today, after a century, this time, we are here as a rising country, a country that is back up on its feet. We exist with our claims and goals. We exist in the same region as hope. We exist in the same zone as a stance that will spread from country to country, as a rise, as a powerful political discourse, as self-confidence.

As a Seljuk Empire, as an Ottoman Empire, as a Republic

This transformation, this new rising period is going to be long term. No power, no circle, no political movement is going to be able to stop this. We can perceive this by looking, not at Turkey alone, but by looking at the world, at the changes, at the major power shifts.

As Asia is on a rapid rise, as the East is getting back up on its feet, as power and welfare shifts toward the East, as the Atlantic-based global hegemony is becoming history, as the “New Rome” trials end in disappointment, as the West’s power in speech and influence draws back to its own region, as the power map is being redrawn, as global-scale fronts are being formed against the U.S. and Europe, as the “old world” is reviving with all its wisdom and experience, as it stands out like a secret revenge, it is right at this time that we are getting ready again for the stage of history. As a Seljuk Empire, as an Ottoman Empire, as a Republic, we are getting ready.

We are going to watch them collapse as we rise

As we rise, we are watching the regress, the collapse of those who made us go through all this a century ago. We are watching the desperation, the exhaustion of those who were until yesterday ordering us and giving us instructions, those who imposed roles on us, who sold ideas through the influence agents on the inside. We are seeing how those who sold us ideas have now become silent, are lost for words, have lost their influence. We watch how their bosses have become quiet, how they are facing their own problems, how they are no longer in a state to fine-tune Turkey.

If you notice, the new world is once again being shaped through history-making nations. The alliances today, supra-national institutions and organizations are collapsing. A majority of the multinational organizations still continuing their existence today will shortly cease to exist.

Regardless of how much capital and technology has gained prominence, all countries and nations that will be determining their own global system, are turning toward their own region, their historic claims and history. Cultural history, civilization identity will stand out as much as political history. All countries that come from an imperial background have turned to gathering power from here.

Europe returning to its own ‘Middle Age’: Feudal era

They U.S. can no longer attempt to control the world on its own. It is also going to have to withdraw to its own geography, it is going to become weaker and be obliged to accept the power formations other than itself. I believe the systemic discussion within the U.S. is going to largely drain this country’s energy.

There is no longer going to be a European Union. Countries are going to individually focus on shaping their own future. Here, disintegration between Continental Europe and the U.K. is going to stand out. Catalonia is not just an example, it is the future of Europe. The “European Middle Age” is brought to the present; we are going to very soon start discussing new European maps based on micro-nationalism. The rise of fascism is going to be the suicide of Europe as we know it today. The identity wars they have been bringing to our region are going to hunt them down in their own homes. The “European Middle Age” is a feudal system, it has countless little states.

The new search is not limited to Turkey. A new world is shaping, history-making nations are turning toward imperial theories. So are we. We are turning toward our history, our region, our rich political heritage. Because the world of the future is going to take shape through these.

Our media, our intelligentsia should be a step ahead

Therefore, this march, this rise, this fight, this showdown must be boosted with very strong steps, strong discourses, assertive cadres, and cultural experiences. Economic growth alone, political discourse alone will not be enough for this.

Our media, our intelligentsia, our universities, nongovernmental organizations must focus on the great global showdown and take their place in Turkey’s great fight. This is not something that can be overcome through futile discussions and conflicts, with outbursts that will save the day, with jealousy, with calculations of petty gains, with cheap projects.

We have to start an intellectual mobilization

Turkey’s return to history should also make way for a deep change in our intelligentsia as well; the voice of people who look at Turkey and the world through these territories should rise, instead of the influence agents of the past. They have to start a greater mobilization than politics, than economy circles.

They must develop a mind that will understand, read and interpret the great transformation in the world, start a struggle that will make out a future perspective from all this, that will light up Turkey’s path.

Unfortunately Turkey is too far behind in this area. Very serious discussions need to be opened; it should be possible to bring out very serious intellectual production examples. Hence, an intellectual mobilization that will complement Turkey’s great march is essential.
