July 15: The history of a millennium-old struggle in one night

The harshest attack in Turkey's history took place a year ago today, on July 15. Our history-making nation faced the most deplorable example of a never-before-seen treachery in the thousand years of Anatolia.

Our country was blatantly attacked through the Fetullah Terror Organization (FETÖ). A structure, a terrorist organization, which is protected, supported, positioned within the state by Western intelligence agencies for half a century, networked throughout the world, tried to take the Republic of Turkey hostage and tried to bring our country to its knees. It tried to destroy the nation, the country and the state by using that very nation’s and state's resources.

They aimed to create a civil war and divide Turkey

The forces that had released FETÖ, which turned every child of Anatolia they were able to influence into a traitor, had activated the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and other terrorist organizations along with other treacherous gangs for the invasion attempt. The goal was to topple President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, render the state dysfunctional, then pit the people against each other and divide Turkey.

Turkey was face to face with an invasion and a civil war scenario under the guise of a coup. They wanted to doom our nation, which had experienced countless wars and struggles in its political history and left its mark on all climates, to a destruction similar to the Ottoman Empire in World War I.

The process of turning Turkey into Syria was initiated and the “Turkey front” was being actualized through FETÖ.

Massacres, executions, concentration camps were planned

Tanks were out of the barracks, traitors within the military were released on the streets, bridges were blocked, assassins were sent after the country’s president, execution lists were prepared for thousands of people and concentration camps had been determined for tens of thousands of people. Parliament was bombed, civilians were crushed under tanks, people on the streets were mowed down with bullets; a massacre had begun.

The terrorist teams of that vile man protected in Pennsylvania by U.S. intelligence had targeted everything that belonged to our country, nation, people, values, history, unity and integrity.

A miracle happened

But a miracle they couldn’t calculate, that their masters couldn’t calculate happened. Our nation united within a couple of hours in great fury on the homeland axis. Hundreds of thousands of people all over Turkey poured out on to the streets. Masses were marching against tanks and bullets. An example of joy and courage never before seen in the world’s history was being displayed.

The old, the young, the women, the brave were changing history; people who had never seen a gun in their life were standing against bullets. Our people, writing history with a tradition of struggle since the Crusades, were back on their feet with the spirit of Gallipoli.

A revolution in the making and the shocked invaders

The coup plotters and the global masters controlling them as well as those who planned the multinational intervention were all in shock. Millions took control of Turkey’s fate with President Erdoğan’s call. A revolution was taking place against the coup and invasion, history was being written.

That night, the struggle of a century was fit into a couple of hours and global power maps were disoriented. Everyone who was martyred, injured, disabled, who lost their parents, who prayed, carried their anger to the streets, wrote, and who by the grace of God forgot fear that night is sacred for this country and nation.

That night, throughout Turkey, there was a nation which came to its senses with the salat, a nation which revived with the adhan (call to prayer) and protected with prayers. That night, the biggest attack since World War I was thwarted.

The last fort resisted, the last War of Independence won

Hence, July 15 is the date New Turkey, Great Turkey was established. It is the declaration of the establishment of a country where there is no tutelage, which draws its own path, which establishes its own future and can no longer be defeated. It is the last “War of Independence” for us. It is the winning of the lost front, the opening of the pages of the victory of the 21st century. The last fort has shown with all its might that it is solid.

We remember and salute with respect those who lost their lives that night, those who were injured, disabled, and those who lost their parents. We wish God’s mercy upon our dear martyrs who established the homeland axis for us.

The “relentless struggle” will continue.

This was announced to the whole world on July 15, 2016.

This is what July 15 is for us
