Mubarak's release and what comes to mind

News came recently from Egypt, the country where a democratically elected president, Mohammed Morsi, was toppled through a military coup and imprisoned, that shows how the law works there. Hosni Mubarak, who had to leave his post as president with the public uprising in 2011, was acquitted of the crimes he was implicated in and a decision was made to release him. His sons, Gamal and Ala, were already released from prison last year. Now, Mubarak's release, everything is back to the start, as if the Arab Spring never happened.

Meanwhile, we need to remember that the democracy has different meanings in the mindset of every country's people. For example, it is possible to see a large segment of Egyptians defend that Morsi's ouster did not contradict democracy. The number of Egyptians who think that the military had to intervene in politics for the sake of fixing the ruined situation is not at all insignificant. Just like those among us who defend that the Sept. 12 military coup was an obligation and those asking God to bless Kenan Evren for “providing peace and order”.
