Additional layers of security have been implemented at Istanbul Atatürk Airport in the light of new security measures. Security was tightened following the ban on passengers carrying electronic devices in their hand luggage on flights to the USA and the UK.
Turkey’s first Airport Full Body Scanners were installed at Istanbul Atatürk Airport during the previous days.
The body scanners were put into use on Monday, and were installed following the passport check point at Atatürk Airport’s International Terminal. Only passengers who are selected by the gate detector are scanned by the device.
It was reported that 10 body scanners, used in domestic and international terminals, cost $6.4 million.
