An International Monetary Fund (IMF) team will visit Turkey between Oct. 19 and 31 to complete 2016 Article IV consultation.

The official staff visit will undertake part of regular, usually annual, consultations under the article IV of the IMF's articles of Agreement.

During the visit, the IMF experts will monitor Turkey's economic developments and discuss IMF related economic issues with Turkish authorities.

They will meet representatives from private sectors and professional organizations in Istanbul between Oct. 19 and 24.

Then the team will visit Ankara to meet official representatives between Oct. 24 and 31.

The IMF consults annually with each member government, even if it doesn't take any loan from the organization. Through these contacts, known as “Article IV Consultations," the IMF attempts to assess each country's economic health and to forestall future financial problems.
