"Israel wanted to have the ability to export the gas both through Greece and Turkey," Israeli Energy Minister Yuval Steinitz said in speaking to the Jerusalem Post.
Steinitz has highlighted that a pipeline to Turkey is much cheaper than going through Cyprus and Greece.
The minister's statement followed the meeting of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades.
Groups of specialists will be appointed to assess the pipeline idea, and plans are proceeding to create a subsea electricity cable to Europe, Netanyahu said.
“These are two practical things we are moving on," Netanyahu added after the meeting.
