Three countries to conduct joint exercises in June, Georgian defense minister says

Turkey, Azerbaijan and Georgia will conduct a joint military exercise next month, Georgian Defense Minister Levan Izoria said on Tuesday.

Georgia would host the special forces of Turkey and Azerbaijan to conduct the exercises in June, Izoria said at a news conference after trio defense ministers meeting in the coastal Georgian city of Batumi.

The meeting discussed defense cooperation, regional security and fight against terrorism.

Izoria said the three countries considered to expand the scope of exercises.

He did not provide any other details about the drills.

The minister said defense cooperation among the three countries is "vital" for welfare of people and economic development in the region.
