Turkish stocks up at opening

BIST 100 index rises 0.34 percent while US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate hovers around 3.51

Turkey's BIST 100 stock index opened Tuesday up 333.56 points to reach 99,665.69 points, a 0.34 percent rise on Monday’s close.

The banking and the holding sectors rose 0.38 and 0.31 percent, respectively.

All sector indexes gained value, while the best performing sector was metal products machinery, which rose 0.64 percent.

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange was flat at 3.5160 at 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), compared with 3.5170 at Monday’s close.

The BIST 100 surged by 1,139.58 points, or 1.16 percent, to reach 99,332.13 points at the close of trade on Monday, with a total trading volume of 3.6 billion Turkish liras ($1.02 billion).

Externally, analysts said investors would focus on eurozone and the U.S current account deficit data due to be released on Tuesday.
