Turkish UAV Anka to be delivered in 2017

Delivery of 10 Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) Anka unmanned aerial vehicles will be complete by end of year ; Anka will be able to remain airborne for 18 hours

Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) Anka unmanned aerial vehicle, which made its operational debut in early February, will be placed into service soon in 2017 .



The modified version of the Anka will be able to remain airborne for 18 hours.



The delivery of 10 Anka unmanned aerial vehicles will be complete by 2018, according to military sources.





The Anka is primarily a day-and-night intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition and reconnaissance (ISTAR) asset, equipped with a high-definition (HD) electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) sensor turret that includes laser designator and laser range finding capabilities.



A complete system comprises three air vehicles, a truck-mounted ground control station, an encrypted portable video terminal, a trailer-mounted power generator, an all-weather radar-based automatic take-off and landing system with digital GPS back-up, and a truck-mounted image exploitation system.
