Famous Turkish actor Tarık Akan dies at 66

Tarık Akan, a famous Turkish actor who gave life to the character of Damat Ferit in a comedy movie series of the Chaos Class, has died at the age of 66.



The 66-year-old had been fighting against lung cancer for nearly 15 months.



According to close circles of the deceased, the famous actor had begun a life in seclusion and silence after being diagnosed with cancer, to which he succumbed.



Akan made his debut on the silver screen in 1970 at the age of 20 in Vefasız. He first hit the headlines with his performance in romantic comedies.



Later in his career, he focused on political and dramatic roles. He acted in a total of 111 films and four tv series to date.



Akan was awarded with Honourable Mention at the 35th Berlin International Film Festival for his role in Pehlivan.
