A woman from the northern Afghan province of Balkh was awoken at midnight to find that her suspicious husband had tied her up before proceeding to cut off her ears, the BBC reports.



Zeina, who told the BBC she had married her husband at the age of 13, said that relations between her and her husband "were not good", adding that her husband treated her badly.



She described her husband as a "very suspicious man" who often accused her of talking to strange men whenever she visited her parents.



“I haven't committed any sin. I don't know why my husband did this to me," she was quoted as saying.



Zeina is now in stable condition after being hospitalized following the incident. She has called for the arrest and prosecution of her husband, who is reportedly on the run in Kashinda district.
