Three Chinese women were detained at an airport in South Korea after they were unable to pass through passport control, after being rendered “unrecognizable” by plastic surgery.

The trio were recovering from nose and jaw operations they had undergone in South Korea. They were said to look nothing like their passport photos and had been stopped from flying home to Beijing.

The picture showing the women with bandaged and swollen faces was said to be taken at one unnamed airport in South Korea during China's National Day holiday, according to Apple Daily.

It is believed that the three women, who remain unidentified, had taken the advantage of the “Golden Week,” an eight-day national holiday, and travelled to neighboring South Korea to undergo plastic surgery.

The trio are now said to need a document proving that they had undergone plastic surgery, with identification matching their passport numbers, before they’re allowed to return to China.
