For the seventh year in a row, Melbourne has been named the world's most livable city, according to the Global Livability Report 2017 of the Economist.

Melbourne is followed respectively by Austria’s capital Vienna, Canada’s capital Vancouver, and other major cities of the country, Toronto and Calgary, according to the annual report prepared by the Economist Intelligence Unit of the magazine on the life quality of the cities across the world.

Prepared based on 142 cities’ stability, healthcare, cultural environment, education and infrastructure, the Global Livability Report stated that Tehran, Dubai, Ivory Coast’s Abidjan, Zimbabwe’s capital Harare, and Sri Lanka’s capital Colombo were the cities which showed the most development in the last five years, whereas Kiev, Damascus, Tripoli, Detroit and Moscow were chosen as the world’s least livable cities.

The study additionally recorded that global livability “has improved for the first time in a decade.”
