At least 10 members of PKK terrorist organisation were killed in fierce clashes with the border troops late Wednesday, the military said.
The clashes sparked after the seperatist group members had attempted to infiltrate the military outpost simultaneously in the village of Aktütün on the country's border with Iraq on three different points, General Staff said on its official site.
The border units, guarded along the border, have prevented infiltration attempt by responding with heavy fire. Military sources suggest the number of slain terrorists is higher than reported previously, citing communications between PKK terrorists on radio-phones.
One PKK terrorist, armed with hand grenade and a small gun, was found dead during the most recent operations in rural parts of Hakkari province, the southeast. Troops also seized one machine gun, two gas cylinder, 122 ammunations, one raido-phone, 69 kalashnikovs during the operations.
One another PKK member turned himself on security forces with his kalashnikov, two hand grenades, several banned organisational documents as well as 251 ammunations.
