Eighteen million children in Turkey returned to class amid ceremonies which commemorated those who fell martyr in the July 15 coup attempt.
Students, teachers and school officials observed one-minute of silence for martyrs, played the national anthem and read the opening chapter of the Koran, the Surah of Fatiha, for those who sacrificed their souls to the land.
Schools showed special videos on the coup and distributed brochures
Two special videos, including frames of violence during and after the July 15 night, have been released during the ceremonies. Frames of the footage have also been released of the speeches which have been given in the massive democracy rally held in Istanbul's Yenikapı district to protest the coup plot.
School directors and students have specifically focused on the coup in the speeches they made during the opening ceremony.
Special July 15 brochures, telling and portraying the coup's violence, have been handed out to students. The brochure includes a glossary about the July 15 coup composed of words such as FETÖ, coup, democracy, republic, junta, as well as a speech by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
