The number of killed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) terrorists has risen to 18 during anti-terror raids in Nusaybin since a curfew was imposed in the southeastern town in Mardin province nearly two weeks ago.

Mardin's governor declared a curfew in Nusaybin beginning at 9 pm on November 13 in order to close ditches, dug by PKK members, and remove barricades erected on some roads to prevent access to remote areas. The curfew will remain effective in the region until further notice, said the governor's office.

Police have successfully diffused 19 bombs, removed 94 barricades and taken away three long-trucks and a van used as barricades by the PKK. The operation has been carried out in honor of a police chief and two officers killed in a terrorist attack that targeted an armored police vehicle on September 16.

Clashes erupted intermittently when terrorists opened fire on police forces during the operation, the Team 38. Special operations forces have also been involved.

Police discovered that the PKK have been using some flats as safe houses and a mosque as a military HQ. An unprecedented number of banned documents, guns and a huge amount of bomb-making chemical substances were found when police searched the mosque and those flats under security measures.

Bulletproof vests police believe were intended for use in terror attacks in big cities were also found by the police who searched the flats.
