As many as 261 Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) terrorists were killed in the Cizre and Silopi town of Şırnak province and Sur town of Diyarbakır province in the southeastern Turkey.

Of the total terrorists killed, 179 were killed in Cizre, while the other 55 militants were killed in Sur and the remaining in Silopi.

Also in Nusaybin town of Mardin province, six rifle magazines, 210 rifle cartridges, a rifle bayonet, sniper binoculars, a hand grenade, two cameras, two radio and the so-called identity card of a terrorist were seized during the operations.

Meanwhile, Turkish officials have arrested 3 Daesh terrorists as they were trying to enter Turkey through Gaziantep and Kilis provinces illegally.

The PKK, which is considered a terrorist group by Turkey and much of the international community, including the United States and the European Union, has been carrying out terror attacks, mostly in southeastern Turkey, since the early 1980s.

The PKK's three-decade-old insurgency flared up again in July after the collapse of a two-year ceasefire, leaving the peace process in tatters and plunging the southeast back into conflict.

Since then, Turkey has been fighting against PKK determinedly to rescue the cities from militants by declaring curfews and launching operations in the region.

The operations left 3,100 PKK terrorists killed and 200 soldiers martyred in 2015.
