Turkish authorities on Wednesday formally opened an investigation against 47 police officers, who are based in the police headquarters in Turkey’s eastern province of Malatya.

The officers will be questioned about their alleged roles in the illegal wiretapping operations over the past four years.

After the Interior Ministry’s permission, the Malatya chief public prosecutor’s office pushed the button for the investigation against illegal tapping operations in the province’s police headquarters.

The prosecutor will investigate the claims, which said the summary of conversations, wiretapped illegally in the police headquarters, forwarded to the computer of somebody else working in the same headquarters.  All computers that were allegedly used in the wiretapping operations will be searched to clarify allegations suggesting that software installed into those computers is not used based on confidentiality.

Meanwhile, 15 officers in Malatya police headquarters are still being prosecuted in an ongoing investigation, that is being carried out for the claims that they have illegally wiretapped conversations of several pilots based in 2nd the Army Command in Malatya.
