Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu spoke at a press conference on Friday, saying that if the YPG lays down its weapons and backs Syrian territorial unity, it can be a part of the solution.

"If the PYD/YPG lays down arms and starts supporting Syrian territorial integrity, they can be included within the framework of a comprehensive solution," Cavusoglu told reporters in the southern city of Alanya, in comments broadcast live on television.

Çavuşoğlu noted that Turkey had told Russia from the start that the YPG should not be involved in the Astana peace process.

"From the start, we have told Russia that a terrorist organisation like the YPG should not be in Astana," he said.

"There is no difference between the PKK and the YPG. We do not tolerate terrorist organizations," said Çavuşoğlu.

Despite not being a part of recent peace talks regarding Syria, Çavuşoğlu said that the U.S. is welcome to attend the Astana talks.

Çavuşoğlu said that Turkey was at the center of the Syria agreement.

Airstrikes in Al-Bab

"The coalition attacked Daesh in Al-Bab yesterday. Russia did the same. Operations on land will progress even faster now that airstrikes have resumed. There is no turning back," said Çavuşoğlu.
