A police officer has been martyred in a gunfight between security forces and Kurdish militants in Turkey's southeastern Hakkari province.
Police pointed the finger of blame at outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party, or PKK, members who opened fire on police in the Şemdinli district on Saturday.
The security forces also claimed to have killed four of the attackers, including a female assailant. Police said the attackers took the bodies of slain militants with them.
PKK members were also accused of detonating a bomb-laden vehicle in front of a gendarmerie station in the Tatvan district of the eastern province of Bitlis, wounding one private and a civilian, according to the Turkish General Staff.
The attacks come after three soldiers lost their lives in a landmine blast in Bingöl, eastern Turkey, on Saturday.
The Turkish General Staff confirmed that six other soldiers were injured in the explosion, which happened in the Karlıova district.
The military has blamed a “separatist terrorist organization" for the deaths.
