An unrecognized unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) has crashed in southeastern Turkey, in the province of Kilis near the border with Syria on Friday, local media reported.

According to initial reports, a drone of unknown origin may have crashed in a field near Aaltınözü city of the southeastern border province of Hatay.

Witnesses to the incident informed nearby gendarmerie units that they saw a drone crash in the area.

Security forces were reportedly searching for the remains of the crash, as the incident yet be confirmed by government officials.

In a separate incident, a rocket shell has fallen in Yayladağı district of the same province.

Both of the incidents came just as Saudi military aircraft landed at Turkey's Incirlik airbase to fight against Daesh in Syria.

Following the drone crash, Turkish fighter jets conducted a reconnaissance flight along the border line.
