Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke on the phone on Friday and both stressed the importance of cooperation for regional security against all "terrorist organizations", particularly Daesh.
Erdoğan informed Putin about Turkey's Euphrates Shield operation into Syria that started early on Wednesday, according to sources.
The two names got together on August 9 in the city of St.Petersburg in Russia, in person for the first time after the crisis of the Russian jet downing, which violated Turkish airspace.
Erdoğan and Putin agreed to make a face to face meeting following the letter written by Erdoğan, who expressed sorrow over the jet downing incident.
The meeting was an important milestone for the improvement of bilateral relations after the jet crisis of November 24.
