A fire broke out at a big oil refinery in the Aliağa district of Turkey's western coastal province of İzmir on Friday.
Fire crews from a nearby refinery, Petkim, and central province were sent to the Turkish Petroleum Corporation, or TÜPRAŞ, to put out the fire.
One firefighter said the fire began after blazes engulfed a 160 cubic meters crude oil tank, belonging to the TÜPRAŞ.
Aliağa district governor, Bayram Yılmaz, said the fire was brought under control in nearly an hour. Yılmaz also said that a short-circuit in the electrical wiring near the tank triggered the fire.
