Turkish police successfully thwarted a suicide bombing plot by Kurdistan Workers' Party/Democratic Union Party (PKK/PYD) terrorists who were preparing to conduct an attack that target Istanbul province of Turkey. The attack was to be carried out before the April 16 referendum.



Police raided the house of the two terrorists in the Arnavutköy district of Istanbul on Sunday.



One of them confessed that PYD was planning to conduct a suicide bomb attack according to conversations between the terrorists that were revealed by the Istanbul Anti-Terrorism Branch Directorate and Intelligence Branch Directorate teams.



The conversation took place on social media and was conducted among PKK-affiliated terrorists.





In the conversations, one of the arrested terrorists and another PKK terrorist were said to be talking about a suicide bombing plan, clearly mentioning 'suicide bombing in Istanbul'.



The raid was part of counterterrorism efforts by Turkish police, while another police unit in Bahçelievler raided seven points and detained nine suspects on March 9.





During the operations, four pistols, one hand gun, 30 bullets, 60 gas masks, 59 gas mask filters, four night vision binoculars, and one jacket steel vest were seized.



Turkey has been the target of terrorist organizations, particularly the PKK and affiliated groups such the Democratic Union Party (PYD), the People's Protection Units (YPG), The Kurdistan Freedom Hawks (TAK), along with Daesh and several other terrorist organizations as MLKP and Revolutionary People's Liberation Party/Front (DHKPC).



The country is fighting terror groups, not only across the country, but also in Syria and Iraq where efforts are crucial both for the internal security of Turkey and the security of the region.
