Şırnak Governor Ali İhsan Su and provincial Police Chief Celal Sel paid a visit to Silopi District Governor Savaş Konak.

The group visited Barbaros neighborhood which was used as headquarters by the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) terrorist organization.

Governor Su, who spoke about the operations and stated that residents relaxed once the terrorists were purged from the district and barricades were lifted, went to 54th Street and thanked the people for their patience.

“Those [terrorists] who explode bombs in front of innocent citizens have no faith. The curfew was lifted following the purge of PKK terrorists from our district, relieving the locals.”

After weeks of curfews imposed in the Silopi district of Şırnak, the governorate of the province announced the lifting of the daytime curfew on Jan. 18.

According to a written statement released by the Şırnak Governorate, the curfew that started on Dec. 15 will no longer be imposed from 5:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., starting on Jan. 19.

Turkey recently became the target of the terrorist group due to its determination in counterterrorism operations.

The Turkish military has been efficiently fighting against PKK terrorists in the southeast of Turkey, particularly Sur, Cizre and Silopi.

More than 200 personnel belonging to security forces have been martyred and over 3,100 PKK terrorists killed in 2015 alone.

The PKK is designated as a terrorist group by Turkey, the United States and European Union.
