A mother in the southwestern Turkish province of Aydın is accused of beating her three-year-old child to death on Friday.
The incident happened in Eğlek neighborhood of Nazilli district where A.E., 37, a mother of three, began to abuse the children physically after she was abandoned by her husband.
Last week, her neighbors called 112 emergency service and M.E., 3, one of her children, was taken to hospital.
After a medical checkup, doctors reported the child showed signs of physical abuse but the security authority released the mother, who was accused of torture.
Following a loud noise from the house, neighbors again called emergency services Friday morning; the emergency unit found the child dead.
Police detained the mother and took her to the district police headquarters for questioning. During the interrogation the mother denied all accusations against her, insisting the child fell from a high bunk bed.
