Over 210 PKK terrorists killed in recent operations

The number of PKK terrorists killed by Turkish security forces in recent operations has increased to 211, according to Turkish military

Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) killed a total of 211 militants of the outlawed Kurdistan Worker's Party (PKK) during month-long counter-terror operations in three district of southeast, the military said on Monday.



Since the beginning of this month, Turkish security forces have been conducting a “sweeping operation" to clear several cities, including Cizer, Silopi and Sur, of PKK militants who violate public security, close roads by barricades and ditches and plant roadside mines.



In a released statement, TSK said that 154 terrorists have been killed in Cizre and 16 in Silopi districts of Şırnak province, while 41 PKK militants have been killed in Diyarbakır's Sur district by joint force of Turkish military and police.



The statement said that in latest offensive TSK killed six PKK members in Cizre on Monday only, while five in Silopi and two in Sur on the same day.



In the past 24 hours, operation security forces destroyed 19 improvised explosives and removed 7 barricades, it said.



The PKK -- considered a terrorist organization also by the US and the EU -- resumed its armed campaign in late July. Since then, more than 200 members of the security forces have been martyred and over 1,700 PKK terrorists killed.
