The July 15 Coup Attempt Research Commission’s draft report was released by Reşat Petek on Friday.

“This report proves that FETÖ was behind the coup attempt,” Petek said.

“Preparations for this coup go back half a century. We have concrete facts and proof that FETÖ was responsible for the coup attempt.”

Fetullah Gülen has “committed forgery numerous times, but he never went through an investigation. He attained his green [Turkish] passport with fake documents he collected," he said, adding that: "Documents and evidences collected by our commission confirm that."

The draft report will be submitted to the parliamentary speaker in 15 days for approval.

Petek went on to describe some of the evidence in the report that proves the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETÖ) was responsible for the coup.

“The pilot who bombed the presidency confessed, ‘I knew that our organization was conducting a coup,’” Petek said.

“In the statement of the Chief of General Staff Hulusi Akar, he says that the putschists who were keeping him captive tried to convince him to speak to their so-called leader Fetullah Gülen.”

The release of the report was delayed due to the influx of evidence.

“The members of FETÖ changed the time of the coup, which was scheduled to be from 03:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. At 9:20 p.m, the Special Forces Personnel, who moved from Akıncı Base, reached the General Staff Headquarters,” Petek said.

“Gunshots were heard at the General Staff Headquarters at 10:00 p.m. and the helicopter opened fire on the people outside.”

“They [FETÖ] infiltrated state institutions through alliances and precautions, and formed a parallel structure.”

Adil Öksüz is a proven FETÖ member

Reşat Petek also commented on FETÖ fugitive Adil Öksüz.

“Adil Öksüz had an active role in managing the coup. Unfortunately, Adil Öksüz has not yet been caught,” he said.

“He traveled overseas 52 times before. Proof of Adil Öksüz’s affiliation to FETÖ lies in the testimony of former Zaman newspaper writer Ali Ünal.”

The commission chairman shut down comments implying the coup was not linked to FETÖ.

“This coup was under FETÖ’s control from start to finish. To say that this coup was ‘controlled’ is an insult to 80 million citizens. There are those who confessed to the coup and FETÖ’s involvement,” Petek said.
