Security forced detected 14 terrorists, who referred to themselves as “lone wolves” and came to Turkey’s southern Adana likely to conduct attacks using cars and knives after Daesh lost swathes of territory in Iraq and Syria.

The attacks could have resembled those in Europe which were carried out in public spaces such as streets during busy periods such as national holidays.

Police conducted simultaneous operations across 20 different addresses at dawn on Nov. 10. Fourteen suspects, one Iraqi national and 13 Syrian nationals, were remanded during the operation.

Security forces determined that the suspects were trained in Syria’s Raqqa, and fled to Adana once the U.S. and Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK)-affiliated People’s Protection Units (YPG) entered the city.

The 14 suspects, who were questioned for 11 days, were referred to the judiciary on Monday.
