At least 10 people, affiliated with the outlawed Kurdistan People's party, or PKK, were detained in a pre-dawn raid in the slum areas in the southeastern province of Adana, according to the province's police headquarters.
Officers stormed scores of previously-plotted homes in the neighborhoods of Hurriyet and Barbaros in the city’s Seyhan district during the simultaneous raids, which were backed by police helicopters.
The operation targeted the PKK militants, who used stones, petrol bombs, skyrockets and guns to attack security forces during Thursday's illegal protests, which were held in the central province.
The number of riot police was increased at the road entrances for security to prevent the suspects from escaping. The special operation force joined the raid in case the armed suspects responded with gunfire.
