A private jet arriving from Ankara skidded off a runway at Istanbul Atatürk International Airport while taxiing after landing on Monday afternoon.
Officials from the General Directorate of State Airports Authority (DHMİ) have been deployed to the scene as police officers cordoned off the area. The airport authority said the situation is under control as fire brigade personnel are continuing their works.
It was not clear how many people were onboard during the incident, and no official statement about any causalities has yet been issued.
Officials say the incident may have occurred because of snow and icy road conditions in Istanbul which caused over 450 flight cancellations from and to Istanbul.
