A PYD/PKK terrorist has surrendered to Turkish security forces in southeast Turkey, according to Turkish military on Tuesday.

In a statement posted on its website, the Turkish General Staff said the terrorist had fled the PYD/PKK camp and surrendered to security forces in Kızıltepe district of Mardin province on Monday.

The PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU -- resumed its armed campaign against Turkey in July 2015.

Since then, it has been responsible for the deaths of more than 1,200 Turkish security personnel and civilians, including a number of women and children.

In the southeastern Sirnak province, security forces seized a machine gun, a rocket launcher, a Kalashnikov rifle and a large number of ammunition during operation.

Also, Turkish security forces detonated an improvised explosive device and confiscated 20 kilograms (44 pounds) of ammonium nitrate in Dicle district of southeastern province of Diyarbakir.
