World-famous singer Yusuf Islam, who achieved superstardom in the 1970s as Cat Stevens, visited refugee camps in Turkey. He said that Turkey did what the whole world could not do.

In a television interview after his visit to a Syrian refugee camp in Gaziantep, Yusuf Islam said the activities of other nations in response to the issue do not compare.

He opined that Turkey is the sole protector of the region's people.

Referring to the 10,000 refugee children who have gone missing in Europe, Yusuf Islam said this is a dangerous figure. In this context, Europe is very far behind Turkey.

He said that world media don't show the reality of Turkey and Muslim world. “The media shows Turkey as a dark and dangerous place. But after visiting the country, observing its beauty and the hospitality of Turkish nation, people are astonished. They say, 'this is not what we saw in the media,'" the great singer said.

Yusuf Islam said that anti-Islamic propaganda is spreading quickly around the world. He called on the Muslim world to work together against this propaganda.

“This is an important issue. We, Muslims, need to tell of the beauty of Islam," he said.
