The Turkish Armed Forces (TAF) have neutralized 64 terrorists nationwide in the aftermath of operations carried out last week, according to an official statement.

The operations were carried out by the Special Operations Gendarmerie (JÖH), Gendarmerie Commando Units and Internal Security forces.

Aerial and land TAF units carried out 1,455 operations in the past week alone.

A total of 859 people who were determined to harbor or provide assistance to terrorists were taken into custody, of which 131 were linked to the terrorist Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and 643 were members of the Fetullah Terror Organization (FETÖ).

The PKK is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the European Union and the United States.

FETÖ terrorists are led by U.S.-based Fetullah Gülen, who orchestrated Turkey's July 15 coup attempt and is the mastermind behind a long-running campaign to overthrow the state through the infiltration of Turkish institutions, particularly the military, police and judiciary.

Forty-five terrorists killed

Among the terrorists neutralized across the country last week, 45 were killed, eight were captured alive and 11 surrendered to the authorities.

A large number of weapons and ammunitions seized

Fifteen sanctuaries and caves were rendered unusable in the aftermath of the operations that were carried out in seven provinces, including Siirt, Diyarbakır, Van, Erzincan, Hakkari, Tokat and Adıyaman.

A total of 34 weapons were seized, including 22 heavy and long-barreled automatic rifles, and 2,408 ammunition of different types.

Thirty-six improvised hand grenades and landmines were destroyed as a result of the operations.
