Armored personnel carriers, a refueling vehicle, heavy equipment and military vehicles sent from various military units in Turkey arrived at the border line in southern Hatay’s Reyhanlı district, as a part of the military deployment of the Turkish Armed Forces (TAF) to the de-escalation zone in Syria’s Idlib.

The vehicles were later dispatched to the border units where they will be deployed, accompanied with security measures.

Heavy equipment was seen digging many positions along the border. Border units continue patrolling along the border with armored vehicles.

The Turkish Armed Forces (TAF) on Thursday said it began establishing observation posts in Idlib to monitor de-escalation zones that aim to bring an end to the six-and-a-half-year conflict.

The operation in the northwestern region was launched under a deal between Turkey, Russia and Iran reached in Kazakhstan’s capital Astana.

The de-escalation zones have been created to “enhance the effectiveness of the ceasefire, end conflicts, bring humanitarian aid to those in need [and] establish the necessary conditions for the return of those displaced.”
