Turkish anti-terrorism officers on Friday detained 40 Daesh suspects in two provinces, a police source has told Anadolu Agency.

Twenty were held in the central Anatolian province of Konya and the remainder in the Seyhan district of Adana province, southern Turkey.

According to the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on talking to the media, police also seized several documents from the suspects.

The move comes after the Turkish army and anti-Daesh coalition forces launched military operations early Wednesday in northern Syria against the terrorist group.

Since January, rocket attacks on the Turkish province of Kilis from Daesh-held territory in Syria have killed at least 21 people.

Terrorist attacks in Gaziantep blamed on Daesh include last Saturday's suicide bombing of a wedding which killed 54 and a car bomb attack in May which martyred two police officers.
