Turkey's Culture and Tourism Minister Nabi Avcı has declared that a Turkish-Russian University is planned to be established in the southern Turkish province of Antalya, following the improvement of bilateral relations of Turkey and Russia after the jet crisis of November 24.

The Minister's announcement came during the Turkey-Russia Journalists Forum meeting which he attended with Economy Minister Nihat Zeybekçi along with 65 Turkish and Russian journalists who attended the meeting.

Minister Avcı said a Russian language business high-school may also be established to support Russian education.

“Turkey is the top country for Russian tourists in terms of sea tourism, second in shopping tourism and third in health tourism,” he added.

'Common fund to be launched'

The Economy Minister Zeybekçi said a common fund is to be launched, aiming at realizing the projects that both two countries approved.

"We are aiming at carrying out common projects, particularly the projects in Syria and Iraq, along with Africa, in the reconstruction sector," the minister said.

The minister also said that the fund may be used for the establishment of the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant.

'Trade with ruble and lira'

"There are ongoing efforts for increasing the usages of ruble and lira in trade. Now only 10 percent of the total trade is being done with Turkish lira," the Minister added.

Also, the CEO of Denizbank, which is owned by Russia's Sberbank, said that the Denizbank ATMs let Russian people carry out transaction in ruble.

"Housing projects for Russian people are to be launched soon," he added.

Bilateral relations improving

Previously, Russia lifted the ban on the charter flights to Turkey following the face-to-face meeting of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Russian President Vladimir Putin on August 9.

The two leaders met in person in the city of St. Petersburg in Russia, for the first time after the jet crisis.

The meeting was an important milestone for the improvement of bilateral relations after the jet crisis on November 24 last year.
