The Kurdistan Workers' Party's (PKK) terrorists attacked a Turkish soldier in the city center of the southern province of Şırnak.

Senior Sergeant Ahmet Yaşar was returning home from the bazaar when terrorists attacked him.

Yaşar, who was shot in the chest, was taken to hospital, where is in serious condition.

Turkey launched a wide range “sweeping operation" to purge the area of terrorists, following the recent terror activities of the outlawed PKK militants, who dug ditches, planted roadside mines, vandalized public buildings, including hospitals, schools and libraries, and kidnapped children.

Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) has announced that they killed a total of 211 militants of the outlawed PKK during month-long counter-terror operations in three districts of the southeast.
