The Local Coordination Committees of Syria (LCC) reported that the U.S. provided the Kurdistan Worker’s Party (PKK) and Democratic Union Party (PYD) terrorist organizations in Syria’s northeast with military reinforcements of 48 vehicles and 250 soldiers.

According to the statement published on the LCC’s social media accounts, the U.S. military convoy traveled from the Syria-Iraq border to the Semalka border gate and arrived at al-Malikiyah, to the east of Haseke.

Following Turkey’s Apr. 25 airstrikes that killed 89 PKK terrorists in northern Iraq and Syria, the U.S. sent 22 trucks of weapons and ammunition as well as military vehicles to the PKK in Syria’s Karachok.

The airstrikes were meant to prevent the PKK from sending terrorists, arms, ammunition and explosives to Turkey, as it has been conducting armed violence in the southeastern part of Turkey since 1984. More than 40,000 people, mostly civilians, have been killed in the three-decade long conflict.

The U.S. bumped up its support of the terrorist organization in the region following Turkey’s counterterrorism operation.

Prior to the strikes, Turkish security forces on the border were attacked with an American made TOW rocket.

Over the past few months, the US has supported the terrorist organization with multiple rocket launchers, 80 120 millimeter mortars, MK19 bombs, M4 Cabinets and M16 infantry rifles as well as Humvee-type military vehicles and Cougar-type armored personnel carriers.

The United States also supplies FGM-148 Javelin tank defenders to the terrorist organization, which Turkey has not been willing to sell despite several requests.

The U.S. refers to the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), which is dominated by the PKK’s Syrian offshoot People’s Protection Units (YPG), its ally in the region.

The PYD/PKK aims to establish a zone extending from Haseki in the northeastern border of Syria to the border of Hatay.
