Turkish professor Miktat Doğanlar has collected more than 25,000 insects in 45 years, including 40 percent of the endemic type. The professor, a lecturer at Atatürk University, first started collecting insects in 1970. Doğanlar said that 80 percent of his total collection of insects was found in Turkey, while 20 percent are from other countries. The specimens are kept in his room at Biological Control Research Institute in the southern Turkish province of Adana at the moment. The professor expressed his wish for his collection to be housed in the National Insect Museum to be established. He also mentioned the difficulty of keeping insects. Many collections have been destroyed seriously due to not being maintained under optimum conditions.
