Syria's al-Bab was liberated from the Daesh terrorist organization in northern Syria since the onset last August of the Turkey-backed Operation Euphrates Shield. Civilians have started to return to the city.

The Turkish-led Operation Euphrates Shield began in late August to improve security, support coalition forces, and eliminate the terror threat along the Turkish border using FSA fighters backed by Turkish artillery and jets.

Al-Bab is currently under the control of the FSA, and the Turkish Armed Forces are no longer patrolling the streets.
