Russia has prohibited the players of Turkey's Fenerbahçe football team from flying to Russia on their private jet for a match to be held in the stadium of FC Lokomotiv Moscow team.

Due to the Russian authorities' ban, the players will go on a Turkish Airlines flight to play the match, to be held in Russia's capital, Moscow, on February 25. This is one of the matches in a series under the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Europa League.

The team will also return to Turkey on Turkish Airlines.

Turkey's Fenerbahçe previously beat Lokomotiv Moscow 2-0 in the first leg of the Europa League Round of 32 tie in Istanbul on Tuesday evening.

The goals came from Brazilian midfielder Josef de Souza Dias, commonly known as Souza, in the 18th and 72nd minutes.

During the match, a Lokomotiv Moscow footballer brought ongoing Russia-Turkey tensions to the forefront by removing his shirt to reveal a picture of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Midfielder Dmitri Tarasov's cut-off T-shirt depicted Putin in a navy cap with the words “Most Polite President" printed below.

UEFA asked Lokomotiv Moscow to take disciplinary action against Tarasov for the provocative act.
