High Tech Port, a defense industry fair which will be held by Turkey's Independent Industrialists' and Businessmen's Association, or MUSIAD, will bring together technology giants and investors from Qatar and Turkey next week.

It is the first exhibition which will be held jointly by the two regional allies. The two-day event will be held between Oct. 6 and 8 at Qatar National Convention Center in the Qatari capital, Doha.

The fair will be held under the auspices of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani.

Nail Olpak, the President of MUSIAD, said that High-Tech Port by MÜSİAD will be the beginning of new cooperation between the two countries for a better future. “Turkey and Qatar will become a global power and historical partners through cooperation in the advanced and strategic sectors," he stressed, speaking at a joint news conference at Istanbul's Çırağan Palace.

“We expect to make deals, worth $5 billion for a period of next 10 years," he said.

On hid part, Mohammed K. Al-Kuwari, the deputy chair of the Industrial Committee of Qatar's Armed Forces, told reporters that BMC, one of the leading players in the defense industry, is crucial for the strategic partnership between Turkey and Qatar.

BMC, a prominent military vehicle provider to the Turkish armed forces, will introduce seven sophisticated defense vehicles during the event.

Turkey's first regional jet, produced by the newly-established TRJet Company, will make its Mideast debut in the event.
