Video footage shows a fighter jet carrying out an air strike hitting an opposition-held village south of Syria's Idlib province and plumes of smoke rising from targeted locations. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said on Wednesday (December 13) that warplanes targeted villages of al-Khwyn, Tal Khanzir, Tal Maraq and Abu Dali in Idlib province. Idlib has been a haven for tens of thousands of opposition members and civilians who were forced to abandon their homes in other parts of western Syria that the government and its foreign military allies have recaptured from the opposition. Idlib has already been the target of intensive strikes by the Russia and Syrian air forces in the past year that have killed thousands of civilians and destroyed hospitals and civil defense centers.
